SUMMARY:Author Talk Series - Genie Dailey
DESCRIPTION:Genie Dailey is the owner of Fine Points Editorial Services in Jefferson\, Maine. Genie earned a BA in English from The College of New Jersey and later worked at Prentice-Hall\, where she was trained and mentored by two experienced textbook editors. After a few years freelancing in Connecticut with her husband\, Jim\, an artist and book designer\, the couple moved to Maine in 1974. Over her many years of editing experience\, Genie’s work has included fiction and nonfiction\, textbooks\, memoirs\, poetry\, and children’s books. She sees every new project as a challenge to enjoy and to learn from\, and she never imagined she would still be doing this work she loves well into “retirement.” \nDuring her Author Talk on April 19th\, Genie will share some of the writing she does when her thoughts wander or she’s inspired by something in nature. She’ll also discuss a few key things about her work as a book editor and take questions after her presentation. Her own book\, Mind Your P’s and Q’s (and Your A\, B\, C’s)–with the tagline “Tips for Writers from an Editor’s Point of View”—will be available for purchase at the event.

SUMMARY:First Friday Art Night
DESCRIPTION:Join us for the kickoff of our 2026 Art Night series on Friday\, January 2 at 6 P.M. with Joanne Cushing. \nJoanne taught herself painting by watching public tv. The different art programs showed her how to build layers in her paintings. She uses acrylic paints because the fast drying time allows her to continually paint layers on her landscapes. Joanne also paints scenes of nature. Joanne said “I love creating outdoor scenes. They bring a sense of peacefulness and tranquility.”

SUMMARY:First Friday Art Night Featuring Linda Gallion
DESCRIPTION:Join us Friday\, November 7 at 6 p.m. for an artist’s reception welcoming Linda Gallion. \nLinda Gallion works primarily in soft pastels\, which she finds an incredibly vibrant and energizing medium for art.  As a child\, she enjoyed nature every day on the Kansas Flint Hills and often found the colors and light in the sky inspiring. Most of her work is landscapes of Maine and places she has traveled. Linda has worked in lithographs\, drawing\, pastels\, and printing\, and was mentored by Frances Hodsdon—a well know print artist and teacher. The Whitefield Artist Drawing Group hosted by Barbara Vanderbilt was also a significant part of her learning and mentoring process. \nLinda’s art has been shown at The Maine Art Gallery\, Boothbay Artist Foundation\, Pastel Painters of Cape Cod\, Washington Maine Library\, Damariscotta Grill Restaurant\, Waldoboro Theatre\, and now the Whitefield Library. You can also see some of her art at Clary Lake Bed and Breakfast\, which she owns and operates in Jefferson\, Maine. \nLearn more about Linda at https://www.clarylakebedandbreakfast.com/lindas-art.

SUMMARY:First Friday Art Night with Marlene Barter
DESCRIPTION:Join us Friday\, October 3 for a welcome reception honoring local artist Marlene Barter! \nBorn and raised in Taos\, NM\, Marlene’s work is heavily influenced by the stunning landscape of the American Southwest. Moving back to Maine with her husband in the mid 2000s\, Marlene found herself once again inspired by the rugged beauty and extreme climates of the midcoast. Her art has been shown in many local galleries\, coffee shops\, and craft stores\, and she has done several commissioned works for friends and collectors.  \nMarlene always turns to art to fill her heart and quiet her mind.  She takes every opportunity in life to draw inspiration for her art\, from working in the garden to trips to Iceland and Canada.
