SUMMARY:When a Loved One is Dying: A Presentation on End-of-Life Care
DESCRIPTION:On Thursday May 14 at 2 P.M.\, join us for a thoughtful and deeply human presentation with Maureen Groden\, RN\, hospice nurse and educator. This event is free and open to the public. \nIn her book\, When a Loved One is Dying\, Groden shares true stories of families navigating the final chapter of a loved one’s life. This presentation will help explain universal emotions\, decisions\, and realizations that can emerge during end of life care. It can also help with the realization that although death brings undeniable sorrow\, it can also deepen bonds\, cultivate resistance\, and offer moments of profound beauty. \nMaureen Groden has been a hospice nurse and educator for several decades. She obtained her undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of Massachusetts and her graduate degree from the University of Connecticut.  Maureen holds certification as a Hospice and Palliative Care Registered Nurse from The Hospice and Palliative Care Credentialing Center. \nThroughout her career\, Maureen has held leadership positions at Mass General Brigham/Cooley Dickinson and Holyoke Medical Center/Hospice Life Care. In addition to clinical leadership\, she has taught community health nursing at several baccalaureate nursing programs\, primarily University of Massachusetts\, Amherst. She has presented widely at conferences and in the community on advanced directives\, palliative care and hospice. Maureen has a passion for helping families navigate the health care system and assisting with peaceful end-of-life transitions.
