Wild Seed Project invites you to join us for an afternoon celebrating native plants and the vast, interconnected community of insects, wildlife, and humans they support. The event will open with a screening of the 60-minute documentary The Extraordinary Caterpillar. Featuring expert Doug Tallamy of Homegrown National Park (a beloved mentor of Wild Seed Project’s Seed Stewardship Director, Emily Baisden), this captivating film shines a spotlight on the crucial – but often overlooked – role that caterpillars play in our ecosystems.

We’ll take a brief intermission for delicious Maine-grown refreshments, social time, and a Q&A session with Wild Seed Project board member Andy Brand, Head Grower at Mt Desert Land & Garden Preserve, and cofounder of the Connecticut Butterfly Association.

Refreshed and ready to learn more, we will return to our seats for a screening of The Buzz on Native Plants. This film, featuring Wild Seed Project community members and other Maine residents, explores the relationship between native plants and pollinators. Buzz was an Official Selection at the 2024 Maine Outdoor Film Festival!
