Closed For The Season, But A Hub Of Activity

We may have signed out our last book for the season, but that doesn’t mean we have “closed down”; far from it! Whitefield Library and Community Center’s spring, summer, and Fall has been busting with activity (purchasing our lovely old building, shelving 100’s of wonderful books donated by friends from near and far, trying out new programs like our successful Children’s Storytime every Saturday, Book Club for Adults and Teens, Game Nite, Knitters & Kneedles gathering, an inspiring Author’s Corner, a “something for everyone” Open House, and our annual Used Book, Baked Goods & Pumpkins closing event). Along with all of this activity, our reliable volunteers have opened the Library doors 8 hours per week, arranged the bookcases and book categories to be more efficient for all, and created a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for the young and the not so young. With much appreciation for the generosity of our many friends and neighbors, we have had a very successful and delightful 2019!

We have doubled our book circulation since 2017, grown from 15 adult members to 394 with 267 children borrowing books, and we have most thankfully multiplied from 12 volunteers to 63! That last figure says it all about this wonderful community. With that number growing every month, we can surely accomplish our next set of goals which focus on the renovation of our place and improving our programing. Through dedicated hard work and hours of time, we hope to bring wifi to the building, catalogue our books for more convenient circulation, install an efficient heating system to allow for nearly year round services, and begin to turn the exterior’s aging process on our beautiful building around so the structure remains secure from Mother Nature for the next several years. Our interior will need attention to the electrical as well as the plumbing, but that’s all in the plans! You will hear a great deal more from us as we continue our fundraising, celebrate successful grant writing, and applaud our many generous Whitefield Library and Community Center supporters. Thank you to all of our surrounding “community” from home and away who have helped us grow. Without you, we never would have come this far!

You can keep an eye on us by “friending” our facebook page (Whitefield Library) and by checking in at our website (whitefieldlibrary.org). We have our contact info there and of course, our Donate Now button. We can use all the help we can get!)
