October 5 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist and Award-Winning Author Barbara Walsh to Speak at the Whitefield Library!!

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and award-winning author Barbara Walsh will speak at the Whitefield Library, Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 pm.

A long-time journalist, Walsh will explain how she finds extraordinary people and pets to write about. She is the author of seven books, including The Lobster Lady: Maine’s 102-Year-Old Legend, Spencer: Boston’s Beloved Marathon Dog, The Goose Lady, and Sammy in the Sky, which is illustrated by renowned artist and dog lover Jamie Wyeth.
Walsh will share stories about why Wyeth agreed to illustrate her first children’s book and the exciting journey of collaborating with one of Maine’s treasured artists. She will also discuss why she prefers writing non-fiction, chronicling stories about “real” people and pets.
“There are so many extraordinary Maine people to write about,” Walsh said. “Virginia Oliver, the oldest lobster catcher in Maine, was one of my favorites. I loved spending time with her as I interviewed her for my book. She is certainly one of our state’s treasures.”

Following her talk, Walsh’s seven books will be available for purchase. Cash or checks only.  For more info, contact admin@whitefieldlibrary.org. The Whitfield Library is located at 1 Arlington Lane.
