Suzanne Balbo has been our Library Director since September 2023. Suzanne is a native of Maine, and she and her family moved to Whitefield in 2012. Since then, she has been committed to participating in and supporting this community, whether it was through her farm’s CSA program, as a school board member, or a volunteer at the library.
As the only employee at the library, Suzanne wears many hats! You can find her fixing the computers, greeting patrons, recommending books to all ages, reading at Storytime at the library or Hinterland Preschool, helping to organize big events, or simply mananaging the behind the scenes of the library.
Suzanne is passionate about helping the greater Whitefield community, and has an open door (and ear) policy to anyone with creative ideas or thoughtful concerns, to name a few. She has two favorite quotes:
“Libraries were full of ideas–perhaps the most dangerous and powerful or all weapons.” -Sarah J Maas
“The only thing you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.” -Albert Einstein
If Suzanne isn’t at the library, you can find her reading a book by the woodstove, wading in the Sheepscot River, or harvesting veggies in her garden.
