First Author Talk Series Night a Resounding Success!

It was with distinct pleasure that the Whitefield Library, now open for public gatherings in its beautifully renovated space, commenced it’s “Author Talk Series” on Friday evening, July 21, 2023. A special welcome was given to one of our own, author Patrick Robbins, who spoke with us and read from his newly released book, “The Warmer”, published by PipeVine Press.

Patrick attended the Whitefield Elementary School and after high school went on to study writing at UMass Amherst and Colby College. He started the evening off by sharing with the audience, elements of the inspiration for his book, from his own appreciation of the Peanuts comic strip series with its cartoon icons, to his personal adventures in the Big Apple. He went on to masterfully ‘perform’, rather than just read excerpts, introducing us to the book’s characters, using individually animated voices as he gestured and orated, as if from a theater script, truly creating an atmosphere of joy for those present, so in keeping with the theme of his captivating book…joy facilitation. He certainly ‘warmed’ the hearts of those present and lingered with us afterwards for refreshments and personal conversation with folks, autographing copies of his book. Patrons interested in reading Patrick’s book, can, of course, check it out of our Library or better still, have your own copy of our ‘local joy facilitator’s’ work! “The Warmer” is available in both hardcover and soft cover. There are copies for sale at The Sheepscot General Store and on line at Amazon.

Patrick’s giving of his heart with his craft were palpable that evening at our little community Library, showing just how important and often not so very difficult it is to share a piece of life with a friend or neighbor and have the spirit uplifted. Check out “The Warmer” and spread the joy!

[Ed: Our next event in the Author Talk Series is this August 10 @ 7:00 pm8:30 pm featuring local Author Deb Gould.]
